by Scott Thomas Outlar

Faith and forgiveness
form the foundation
I place my feet upon

There are a million miles
to walk in patience
between each lesson

Take me to the mountain
or the river
or the ocean
or the woods
or the empty spaces
as long as there’s
a miracle
just around the bend

Summer storms
bring gentle winds
to calm the heatwave

A blood eclipse
engulfs the night
with weeping flames

Take me to the past
or the future
or the new age
or the dreamscape
or the midnight hour
as long as there’s
a higher truth
in rhythm with the stars
